Contract Terminated: Anthem Blue Cross and Stanford Health Care

Important Reminder
Following up on our notice last week, this update is to remind you and all CVT PPO members with Anthem Blue Cross that Stanford Health Care is no longer a participating provider in the Anthem Blue Cross network, effective September 8, 2014.


Please share with impacted CVT members in your district. Notification will be sent to you if the contract were to renew on a future date.

Background
Anthem Blue Cross and Stanford Health Care (formerly known as Stanford University Medical Center) have been engaged in Commercial contract negotiations for several months to reach agreement on reasonable reimbursement rates and contractual terms that are beneficial to both organizations. Unfortunately, Anthem Blue Cross and Stanford Health Care were unable to reach agreement and Stanford terminated the contract effective September 8, 2014. From that date forward, Stanford Health Care will no longer participate in the Anthem Blue Cross provider network. The hospital is located in the City of Palo Alto in Santa Clara County.

Impacted facilities include:

  • Stanford Healthcare (formerly Stanford University Hospital)
  • Stanford University Hospital Rehab unit
  • Stanford University Hospital Psych unit
  • Medical groups: University Health Care Alliance, Inc. and Stanford Hospital and Clinics
  • DOES NOT impact Lucille Packard


A partial list of alternate, contracted facilities includes:

  • El Camino Hospital
  • Good Samaritan Hospital
  • Menlo Park Surgical Hospital
  • Mills Hospital
  • O’Connor Hospital
  • Peninsula Hospital and Medical Center
  • Santa Clara Valley Medical Center
  • Sequoia Health Services
  • UCSF Medical Center
  • Washington Hospital

Continuity of Care
Anthem Blue Cross realizes that there may be continuity of care concerns for members. Please direct them to call an Anthem Blue Cross Customer Service Representative at the toll-free telephone number located on their identification card.
